Watch how to crochet the duchess lace stitch (video & written instructions)

The duchess lace stitch is an elegant combination of three basic stitches, chains, single and double crochet, to create a sophisticated criss-cross effect which will have people swooning.
Duchess lace adds a ladylike touch to cozy scarves, throws and shawls.
Though the duchess lace stitch is fairly intricate, you don't need to use a fine yarn and it looks lovely crocheted up in a standard DK weight. Check your manufacturer's band for hook size suggestions. You'll also need a pair of scissors and a tapestry needle for weaving in your ends.
